“Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.” Forrest Gump
And that is exactly what happened to me!
My whole family moved to Hong Kong in 2016 for professional reasons. We immediately fell in love with this vibrant city, enjoyed its wonderful energy, endless gastronomic offer, incredible nature and vast hiking options.
At the same time, 2020 has been quite a challenging year for me. I was trying to find purpose, self-development and to improve myself, which led me to follow an empowerment program. This training took me way beyond my expectations, especially when one of the participants asked me about my family name and wanted to know if I was related to Maison Pécou, a French artisanal manufacturer of sweet delicacies, founded over 140 years ago. She told me she was fond of their products made from premium natural ingredients, and she missed those French treats here.
My mind started racing. The more I began to think about it and the more it started to become obvious: why not help bring the family business to Hong Kong? It made sense to me, especially in a place where food is such an important part of the culture, a bit like in France, and where options for affordable premium quality foods are quite scarce.
Starting a business almost from scratch was a bit scary at first but it quickly became very exciting. With a lot of passion, support from my family (even my kids jumped in to help) and delicious chocolates, I realized that I had all the ingredients for success and that nothing is impossible.
Family and friends were all thrilled, offering tons of advice and they were always eager to sign up for tasting sessions.
And this is how My Gourmandises began.
With My Gourmandises, you will find no bad surprises when it comes to what’s in your chocolate box and I do think you will love it as much as we do.
Let’s enter a world of delicacies!
